AdHunt.ie

Fine print

AdHunt is a search engine for second-hand listings. You don’t need an account, and searching never asks for your name, email or any other personal details.

Analytics

AdHunt uses Umami to count visits, so we can see which pages are used and whether the site is working well. Umami doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t follow you across other websites and doesn’t build a profile of you. It records the page you visited, the site that referred you, your browser, operating system, device type and country. Your IP address is used only to work out the country and isn’t stored. The figures are only ever looked at in total, never for one person.

That’s the only analytics AdHunt uses. There’s no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cookies.

Your searches

Your search is sent to AdHunt’s server to find matching listings. Like any web server, it keeps a short technical log of requests, including the IP address and the search, to keep the service running and secure. Searches aren’t linked to you or used for anything else.

Listings and sellers

AdHunt shows details that marketplaces publish on each listing: title, description, price, town and county where given, condition, whether the seller is private or trade, the dates it was posted and checked, and a link to its photo. It doesn’t store sellers’ names or contact details. To get in touch with a seller, you use the original marketplace. The one exception is the usernames of large eBay business sellers, which AdHunt keeps to leave out shops that mostly sell from outside Ireland.

Listings that are no longer on the marketplace are deleted 30 days later. If you’re a seller and want a listing removed sooner, see Takedown requests.

Your rights

You can ask what data AdHunt holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by emailing privacy@adhunt.ie. If you’re not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
